Facebook is an online social media platform owned by American technology conglomerate Meta Platforms (which also owns Instagram and WhatsApp). Whereas other social media platforms, such as TikTok and Instagram, focus on content creation, Facebook prioritizes supporting local communities and businesses. Additionally, recent surveys indicate that approximately half of existing Arts Society members currently use Facebook, and that more than a third of all Facebook users are over the age of 45. Let's not forget that it is also free to use. It is for these reasons that we are now incentivising Societies to use Facebook.
It's worth noting that all of these video tutorials will initially focus on Facebook use on a laptop. I am using Safari on a MacBook, although it should look the same whichever internet browser you use. Facebook also has an excellent app available for mobile users.
A quick note: many of our training resources cover third-party platforms and so are representative of the platform at the time the resource was created. We endeavour to keep all our training resources as up-to-date as possible, so if you spot something in a video or on a document that has been redesigned or changed since the time it was uploaded here, please let us know and we'll update it as soon as we can.
Facebook Help Centre
The Facebook Help Centre is the official online support resource from Facebook (Meta) where you can find answers, guides, and tools for solving problems with your account or using Facebook features. It includes help articles on things like logging in, account management, privacy, reporting issues, Page or group problems, and more — and you can search for specific topics or browse categories to find the answers you need.
You can access it by going to facebook.com/help or through the Help & Support menu in the Facebook app or website. It’s available 24/7 and is usually the best place to start if you’re stuck or have a question.
Please note that Facebook doesn’t provide general public phone support for most users, and direct email support isn’t guaranteed — so the Help Centre and in-app tools are typically the main official channels.
